Today's Bargains

This morning was relaxing. Not at all as hardcore as most weekends, I made some coffee and drove around leisurely looking for sales. I have yet to find a couple bar stools, but I think that's all that I'm specifically looking for. Thankfully, I have others looking for them as well. Wanna join the hunt? ;)

This morning, I hit up several garage sales and an estate sale. At the estate I found a bunch of nice sailboats... These two reminded me of New England so I picked em up for $1 apiece. They work nice on the piano :)

Then just about home I stopped at a sale down the street and got a really nice hardwood chair for $5. Apparently the table it went with was an $800 set, but got damaged or something. I think it'll work nicely in the corner.

For being 21 year old bachelors, Travis and I are blessed to have pretty nice furniture. The tour of the new house is still pending, but hopefully coming soon.

Don't forget how much hope we have in Jesus. Especially when there is so much uncertainty in the economy and the world, we can cling to Him who doesn't ever change (Heb 13:8).

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Todd

Chair and two wood sailboat decorations: $7

Ana

Hmm... I haven't heard from little Ana -- my Compassion International kid -- for awhile. Hopefully she's doing alright :)

I got a couple sweet garage sale finds. I'll post a little later.

Goodwill Thrift Store Bargain

After arriving early at my internship (Bounce Logistics in South Bend, IN) yesterday afternoon, I dropped by the Goodwill store a mile away.

Good decision.

In the back corner by the furniture was a car-top carrier. No price was listed, but it was in perfect condition -- hinges worked and included straps and mounts -- so I asked the lady how much it was.

$15.

After buying it and bungee-cording it to my trunk, I just figured I'd resell it as $15 seemed really cheap.

As I drove, a curious idea popped in my head of what to use it for -- more on that soon. :)

Here are some pics of this awesome $15 Goodwill find. I'm in the second picture to show how big it is. Compare it to the size of my muscles. Ha.

Jesse McCartney and Me

So once I was in a pizza place, and some little girls asked for my autograph thinking I was Jesse McCartney.

And then there was that time in the mall when I was cornered by a group of junior high girls who thought I was Jesse McCartney.

And then there was that time Shanon caught me listening to Beautiful Soul. Never lived that one down.

Well, for those who saw this coming -- you called it. Let's hope all similarities Jesse and I share can now be put to rest. I'm tired of signing autographs.

Bachelor Food

Are those tacos?

Yes they are.

Is that green beans and watermelon, too? And freshly baked brownies in the background?

Yes, yes, and yes.

Here's proof that while Travis and I may not have women to cook meals for us, we aren't planning on eating Ramen all summer.

Garage Sale Find - Office Chair

So Saturday Brett, Jude, Emily, and I hit up a bunch of garage sales and I got this sweet office chair for $15. The new house is nearly completely furnished now... just need a few barstools. Apparently MTV is coming soon to do a Cribs episode on the new place so be ready for that.

Start of Summer

Here's a quick update from the past couple weeks:

Choir Tour
The Bethel choir's trip to Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa was surprisingly enjoyable. Wonderful hosts, a major euchre tournament, ministering concerts, and the hotel room from every horror movie and episode of CSI made the trip fun and interesting. Got back on Monday.

May Term Began
Also on Monday, May term started. May term this year is 3 weeks of Physical World, which is basically a glorified physics/nature class. I've actually been enjoying it so far.

Piano Tuning?
So today was kinda stressful trying to tune the ol' piano. Being given it for free, it was in surprisingly good condition, except being more than a half step flat. Probably another couple hours and it'll be sweet!

Summer Job
This is pending. More details soon.

Ok, garage sales in the morning with friends, and then the parents and brothers are up to see the new house. Night!

Garage Sale Finds

After playing piano for the pinning ceremony at Bethel this morning, I hit up some garage sales in Mishawaka. I was needing some lawn chairs for future parties around our new firepit, and was blessed to get five of them.

5 lawn chairs -- $1 apiece.

4 antique gas cans -- 2 for $.50 apiece, 2 for $.25 apiece.

Total spent: $6.50

I don't know what I'm gonna do with the gas cans, but they look sweet.
